CityScape Overview

Q: What is CityScape?
A: CityScape is a mixed-use, multi-dimensional development that has never been done before in the city of Phoenix. The project combines residential, retail, hotel, office, public park space and more into one central and cohesive project.

Q: Where is CityScape located?
A:

The project encompasses two lineal blocks in the Copper Square district of downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The boundaries are: 1st Avenue to the west, 1st Street to the east, Washington Street to the north, and Jefferson Street to the south. The project is adjacent to the US Airways Center and within two blocks of Chase Field. The Light Rail Transit System (LRT) runs on three sides of the project with two nearby rail stations providing convenient access.

Q: What is the timing for the project?
A: Construction on CityScape began October 2007 with the first phase slated to open late 2009. The project will be built out over several years based on market demand, with most construction planned to be completed by 2011.

Q: What is the vision for this project?
A:

CityScape is an inspiring multi-use destination, providing a focal point for urban living and community activity, connecting the dynamic people, places and events of metropolitan Phoenix.

The goal of this project is to create a thriving urban environment in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, creating one of the highest energy locations in the Valley, if not the state. It will be a hub of activity that blends residential space with urban living, work, shopping and entertainment opportunities. Combine a transit-friendly development with useful open spaces, and this dense urban living environment will be home for some and a destination for all.

Q: What types of retailers and restaurants will you be able to attract?
A: With its strategic location, this project will be a destination that appeals to tenants of all types. While the merchandise mix is still being determined, the early vision for the project calls for a strong mix of local and national restaurants, combined with exciting entertainment opportunities. The best national and local retailers will want to take advantage of the dynamic environment, bringing some of the most exciting retail concepts to downtown Phoenix. Additionally, a specialty grocery store offering fresh food and convenience items will serve the growing downtown population. AJ's Fine Foods is the first to commit to the project.

Q: Why is this the right location for a project of this nature?
A:

Downtown is undergoing a major overhaul, with many new projects recently completed, currently underway or in the planning stages. Many of the projects will be completed in 2008 and the first phase of CityScape will open in early 2009.
